La Flotte seduces visitors with its authentic charm, the quality of its living environment and its idyllic surroundings.
This former small town of shopkeepers is now one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The village boasts an exceptional historical and cultural heritage. Among the monuments worth visiting are the church of Sainte-Catherine, the Abbey of the Châteliers, the Fort la Prée…
The discovery of La Flotte also allows one to take a quantum leap into the past of the Ile de Ré, whether during a visit to the Platinum Museum or during a guided tour through the streets of the village.
To start a day of exploration of La Flotte-en-Ré, there is nothing like the terrace of a café on the port. The setting is breathtaking and the atmosphere peaceful. The walk will then be punctuated by an unmissable stop at the market square. It is hard to resist the many local products offered by traders renowned for their warm welcome.
Visitors can also take advantage of their visit to enjoy the Arnérault beach, just a stone’s throw from the port. The place is perfect for swimming or taking a break in the shade of the trees along the beach. After this well-deserved break, enjoy an ice cream in the village’s shopping streets.
The day usually ends at the port, where you can admire the last boats returning from the sea. You come here to have a drink with family or friends, or to taste local specialities in one of the many restaurants in the port or on the waterfront.
Every evening in July and August, visitors and locals alike can stroll through the night market on the Cours Félix Faure and enjoy a concert on the large stage next to the tourist information office.
And of course Arnérault Beach to relax with family and friends during your holidays on Re Island: the only beach in the village that extends for almost a kilometre and faces the port and a few steps from the heart of the village.
Come and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean to swim and sunbathe on the fine sandy beaches while the children build sand castles.
For the more athletic, you will have the opportunity to surf, kite-surf, kayak, standup paddle, and even take sailing lessons.
And finally for the fans of the sea outings: take a catamaran trip, or cruise outings from the port of Saint Martin en Ré to explore the surroundings of Ile de Ré and admire the magnificent landscapes that are open to you.
