The commune which shelters our campsite in La Flotte-en-Ré is one of the oldest villages of the Ile de Ré.
You can take a walk on the old port, have a drink on the terrace, go through the famous medieval market and come back to enjoy the port and its night market, open every evening between July and August. You can ride along the Atlantic coast on the bicycle paths before returning to taste oysters in the center of the village.

The village has an exceptional historical and cultural heritage. Among the monuments which are worth the detour, we can notably quote the Sainte-Catherine church, the Châteliers abbey, the Fort la Prée…
The discovery of La Flotte also allows, in a certain way, to make a formidable leap in the past of the Ile de Ré, that it is during a visit to the museum of the Platin or within the framework of a guided tour in the streets of the village.
To begin a day of exploration of La Flotte-en-Ré, there is nothing like the terrace of a café on the port. The setting is breathtaking and the atmosphere peaceful. The walk will then be punctuated by an unmissable stop at the market place. It’s hard to resist the many local products offered by merchants known for their warm welcome.
The visitors also take advantage of their passage to appreciate the beach of Arnérault, two steps from the port. The place is perfect for swimming or taking a break in the shade of the trees by the beach. After this well deserved break, we taste an ice cream in the shopping streets of the village.
The day usually ends at the port, where you can admire the last boats returning from the sea. People come here to have a drink with family or friends, or to enjoy local specialties in one of the many restaurants in the harbor or on the waterfront.
Every evening in July and August, visitors and residents can stroll through the night market on the Cours Félix Faure and enjoy a concert on the large stage next to the tourist information office.
Must-see activities in La Flotte en Ré
Absolutely unmissable when staying at a campsite in La Flotte-en-Ré, the Arnérault beach is as friendly as it is pleasant. You will be able to relax there with your family or friends in the purest happiness of spending vacations on the Ile de Ré. The beach of Arnérault, it is especially the only beach of the village of La Flotte. It can be reached in a few steps from the city center and extends for almost a kilometer in front of the port.
Come and enjoy the spray of the Atlantic Ocean and have a wonderful time swimming and sunbathing on the fine sandy beaches, while the children make sand castles.
For the more sporty, you can try many water activities such as kayaking, surfing or sand yachting.
There is no lack of coastal walks on the Atlantic coast. Take time to walk along the beach with your children.
